Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026. Short version: we don't collect personal data, your saved list stays on your device, and analytics are opt-in and anonymised.
What HackLoop is
HackLoop is a public index of hackathons across India. We aggregate listings published by organisers and make them searchable by city, state, theme, mode and deadline. We are not an organiser: registration, submissions and prizes are handled by the events we link to.
What we collect
HackLoop does not require an account and does not collect personal information about visitors. There is no sign-up, no profile and no password.
The only data stored on your device is your saved shortlist, kept in your browser's local storage under the key `hackloop:saved`. It never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Analytics
We may run product analytics through PostHog to understand which pages and filters are useful. Analytics are configured client-side and only load when a project token is set; until then every tracking call is a no-op and nothing is sent.
When enabled, analytics events carry anonymised usage data (page views, filter selections, outbound clicks) and the standard technical information a browser sends (user agent, approximate region derived from IP by PostHog). We do not send your saved list or any identifying profile.
You can opt out at any time by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser or by blocking the PostHog host; the site keeps working either way.
The backend we read from
Published hackathon listings are stored in a Convex database and served to your browser. The data is the same public information organisers publish (title, dates, city, prize pool, registration link). We do not store visitor data there.
Third-party links
Hackathon pages link out to organisers' registration and rulebook URLs. Following those links takes you off HackLoop; their privacy practices apply from that point and we encourage you to read them.
Cookies
HackLoop itself sets no tracking cookies. The only storage we use is the local-storage shortlist described above. Any cookies set come from third parties embedded on the page (for example, analytics if enabled).
Children
HackLoop is a public information site with no age-gated content and no accounts. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the product evolves (for example, when accounts arrive). The "Last updated" date below reflects the latest revision; material changes will be noted in the site's release notes.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request to remove a listing, can be sent to privacy@hackloop.tech. We read every message.
